About Us

MARSHALL MASON

Rubber City Church Pastor

Welcome!

As we begin an adventure together to launch Rubber City Church in 2021, we’re excited that you’re interested in learning more!

We believe Jesus is on mission in Ellet, Summit County, Northeast Ohio and beyond – extending the Father’s grace and forgiveness. He invites us to join him in his mission of bringing his kingdom to Earth by making much of Jesus

We are planning to launch Sunday services on December 6, 2020, but the church has always been a gathering of people—not weekly worship in a sanctuary. This means our church has already begun, and there are many exciting ways you can join us now! We have a number of different groups meeting throughout the East side of Akron and they are waiting for you to jump in. These groups provide a sense of connection and belonging. It’s real people seeking to walk through real issues of life, grow in their faith, relationships with one another, and to serve the community side-by-side.

Additionally, we hold regular worship nights were we collectively gather to gain a greater idea of what God is doing through us, unify ourselves around his mission, and to make much of Jesus.

As you can tell, “Life Together” is a value of ours and we don’t want you to miss out on what God wants to do in and through you. Get connected and stay in the loop with us by filling out the Welcome Card below and we will make sure to communicate with you each step of the way!

VISION: Hope for Akron

Our hope for Akron is the same as Jesus’ hope for Akron: that his kingdom would come.

Akron has a rich history as the “Rubber Capital of the World.” When driving into Akron, one can often see the blimp flying high as it lets all people know what this city is all about.

We wish an additional story would be written for Akron. A story which echoes the person and work of Jesus Christ. From the beginning, the church always had one mission in mind: to make much of Jesus. He is God. He is Savior. He is Deliverer. He is King. Unfortunately, we live in a day where the message of Jesus has been severely suppressed. But it is our hearts’ conviction that the person of Jesus is everyone’s greatest need.

We believe we will see Jesus’ kingdom come to Akron. Our strategy in joining him in this work is simple: sending people. Our focus is not on gathering masses of people, but sending people to the masses. We send people who are committed to making much of Jesus to every schoolworkplace, and neighborhood.

As a result of sending people, we believe we are going to watch Heaven come down to earth, and Akron would no longer just be known as the Rubber Capital of the world, but a city that knows Jesus as King.

MISSION: Make Much of Jesus

From the beginning, the church always had one mission in mind: to make much of Jesus.

This is not just a clever slogan to get individuals to rally, but it is a lifestyle. We want to be a church that makes much of Jesus everywhere we live, work and play.

Whether people come to our worship services, work in the next cubical over, or live down the street, we will be known as people who are on mission to make much of Jesus.

We make much of Jesus by valuing these 4 things:

JESUS: What we talk about most reveals what we value most. If our hearts are filled with Jesus, then he will be a part of our everyday conversation. We want to be people in our community who walk closely with Jesus on a personal level, so his grace will overflow into every other aspect of our lives. “For out of the overflow of the heart, the mouth speaks” (Luke 6:45).

HIS WORD: God has fully revealed Himself in the Bible—this is how we get to know Jesus. What this world doesn’t need is another opinion; what it does need is THE opinion. What does God have to say? We need to see things the way God sees them since he is the author of life and he knows what is best for us. His word is unfailing and it is helpful for everyday life; it is timely and timeless. All Scripture is breathed out by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, and for training in righteousness, that the man of God may be complete, equipped for every good work (2 Timothy 3:16).

HIS MISSION: Amidst all of Jesus’ instructions, he left his followers with two main things to do: make disciples and preach the gospel. We are about helping people deepen their relationship with Jesus, and spreading his good news through our words and actions. “But you will receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you will be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth” (Acts 1:8).

LIFE TOGETHER: God created us for relationship; walking through life was never meant to be done in isolation. When we are in community, we experience the love of Jesus through other believers. They can meet needs when we have them, pick us up when we stumble, clean us up when we feel dirty, and remind us we are children of our loving Father. Dear friends, since God so loved us, we also ought to love one another. No one has ever seen God; but if we love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us (1 John 4:11-12).
